Start with Immigration New Zealand’s announcement dated 20 October 2026. Its two Temporary Employment Entry pathways allow up to 5,000 visa holders in New Zealand at any one time; that is not an annual allocation of 5,000 new jobs.
Applicants still need a qualifying offer from an accredited employer and must meet the relevant qualification, English-language, health, character and identity rules. The announced visas last three years and do not themselves lead to residence. A trade agreement does not replace these checks.
The separate working-holiday scheme is planned within two years of the agreement taking effect, with 1,000 places annually for eligible Indian nationals aged 18–30. Do not treat that commitment as an already-open application window. Expanded post-study rights for qualifying Indian PhD graduates are scheduled from 16 November 2026.
Before paying for recruitment or study services, use the exact visa page to confirm which route applies and whether applications are open.
