For a resident individual with salary-only ordinary income in Tax Year 2026–27 and the ₹75,000 standard deduction, the annual tax including 4% cess is ₹0 at ₹5 lakh, ₹0 at ₹10 lakh, ₹97,500 at ₹15 lakh and ₹1,92,400 at ₹20 lakh gross salary. At ₹25 lakh gross salary it is ₹3,19,800.
For ₹15 lakh salary, taxable income is ₹14.25 lakh. The slab tax is ₹93,750 and cess is ₹3,750. At ₹10 lakh gross salary, the resident rebate offsets the slab tax. The resident rebate does not apply to non-residents, and special-rate income can change the result.
Employee PF should not be subtracted again as an 80C deduction in the new regime. Monthly payroll TDS can differ from the annual figure divided by twelve.
Check the official Budget 2026 rates FAQ, use the new tax regime calculator, or see the worked salary examples. Capital gains and other special-rate income are outside this estimate.
