POWERGRID Engineer Trainee 2026 applications open under Notice 2 dated 3 November 2026, continuing Advertisement CC/04/2025. The new vacancy notice confirms 319 posts: Electrical 250, Civil 48 and Computer Science 21.
Register and submit the application and applicable fee from 3 November 2026, 5 PM to 18 November 2026, 11:59 PM. This recruitment uses GATE 2026, separate from POWERGRID’s GATE 2027 announcement.
Category-wise vacancies, including backlog
| Discipline | UR | OBC-NCL | SC | ST | EWS | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electrical | 98 | 72 (66 + 6 backlog) | 38 (37 + 1 backlog) | 18 | 24 | 250 |
| Civil | 19 | 14 (12 + 2 backlog) | 8 (7 + 1 backlog) | 3 | 4 | 48 |
| Computer Science | 9 | 5 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 21 |
| Total | 126 | 91 | 50 | 22 | 30 | 319 |
The 10 backlog vacancies are included in 319, not additional. PwBD reservations are horizontal and must not be added again to the total. Electronics appeared in the earlier tentative advertisement, but the November vacancy table lists only the three disciplines above.
GATE paper, qualification and age
The corresponding GATE papers are EE, CE and CS. Only the qualifying GATE 2026 result in the relevant paper is valid; an older GATE score does not substitute.
The detailed advertisement requires the specified full-time BE/BTech/B.Sc. Engineering discipline and normally at least 60% or equivalent CGPA, with advertised relaxations. Read the accepted degree-title list rather than assume every engineering branch qualifies.
The parent advertisement gives 28 years as on 31 December 2025 as the standard upper-age condition and a final-result condition dated 14 August 2026. The November notice refers back to it and does not announce a new age cutoff. Do not recalculate age from the November opening date; check your case with POWERGRID if necessary.
Fee, selection and pay
The fee is ₹500; SC/ST/PwBD/departmental candidates are exempt under the notice. The selection scheme uses GATE marks, group discussion and personal interview, with weights of 85%, 3% and 12%. Qualifying the interview is separately required; a GATE score alone is not an appointment.
The detailed advertisement gives basic pay of ₹40,000 in the trainee scale during one-year training, and the Engineer E2 scale of ₹50,000–₹1,60,000 after successful training, subject to its conditions. These are not take-home salary estimates. Read the service-agreement bond and posting obligations before applying.
